Lefcadian Brotherhood 80th Year Celebrations

Come join us in celebrating the Lefcadian Brotherhood’s 80th Anniversary.

Kicking off the celebrations is our Gala Dinner Dance at Merrimu receptions on Saturday 15th October. Tickets: $100 adults and $50 Children under 12. Time: 7 pm. Address: 1300 Dandenong Road Murrumbeena.

Featuring live music from the renown Rythmos Band and featuring a special guest performance and much more.

A church Service and Doxology on 30th October at the Presentation of our Lord Greek Orthodox Church, 23-29 Victoria Street, Coburg and a celebration at the Brotherhood Hall following the service to honour those who have passed. Price $30 Adults and $15 Children

Followed by a Cocktail Party at the Brotherhood Hall on 5th November featuring an art Exhibition from the talented young Lefkadian artists Troy Argiros and Stephanie Dellaportas.

The Bortherhood is thrilled to present its new and magnificent logo to kick off our Lefkadian Brotherhood’s 80th anniversary Celebrations.

This is how Stephanie from Stephanie Dellaportas Designs describes her design in her own words:

“The design is inspired by Lefkada’s rich history, landscape and the Lefkadian- Victorian connection.

Representing the many myths Lefkada is related to is the ancient bust, crowned by Lefkada and Victoria.

The crown symbolises the importance of this connection, encompassed and united by the brotherhood, shown by the olive branch meaning peace and friendship. The background contrast of the white and blue hues represents the beautiful landscape Lefkada is known for – the white colour of the cape’s rocks against the mesmerising Ionian blue waters.”

The Brotherhood has raised the following donations and thanks all donors for their generosity and support:

  • $5,000 Kathy Katapodis
  • $1,000 (name withheld on request)

  • $820 (Donation from a table from the Mother’s Day Luncheon – names withheld on request)
  • $1,470 raised through donations at the funeral of the late George Korfiatis. We thank Arthur Korfiatis and family for this generous gesture and support during this dfficult time
  • $13,000 Lefcadian Cultural Association (now a deregistered Incorporated Association)
  • $1000 Nick Ahimastos (received at 2022 AGM)
  • $1000 Chris Katos (received at 2022 AGM)

Total Donations Raised to date $26,390

Donations above $500 will be recorded in the Donors, Benefactors and Great Benefactors Special Register of the Brotherhood.

EVENT CANCELLED – Annual Picnic at the Holy Church Panagia Kamariani, Red Hill on 23 January 2022

Due to the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of Australia cancelling all events due to high numbers of Covid 19 present in the community, the Annual Picnic cannot proceed at the Holy Church at Red Hill and has been cancelled.

The Annual Lefcadian Brotherhood picnic will take place at the Holy Church of Panagia Kamariani, 135 Arthur Seat Rd, Red Hill on Sunday 23 January 2022.

There will be a petting zoo and other games for children.

The Brotherhood is organising transport for those who prefer to be driven to Red Hill. The bus will be departing from the Brotherhood Hall (Lefkaditiko Spiti) at 8am and tickets are $20 with scheduled stops along the way.

2021-22 New Year’s Eve Dance

All Lefkadians and friends are invited to join us at the Brotherhood annual New Year’s Eve Dance to be held again this year at the Brotherhood hall.

Tickets are $80 for adults and $40 for children 12 and under. Food, drinks and entertainment included.
